During her EarthArt Fellowship, Steph has been exploring the fluctuating landscape of the River Avon, from it’s geological past, to future changes caused by rising sea levels. She has drawn from geologists, oceanographers, and climate scientists. Steph has engaged in subtle interventions and disruptions along the river’s course.
Working with gathered organic materials, she has installed transient, fragile works at 5 key sites - translating data and hidden technology into tangible objects and happenings. Silt became central to her explorations, collecting samples from each site she visited; she then printed a series of flood maps using silt mixed with screen print medium, and she created 100 silt sculptures, which, over the the course of a month, were collectively dropped along the future flood routes with members of the public.
